Man injured during break-in at Carniny Road, Ballymena, home

A man has been treated in hospital after being hit on the head with a metal object during a break-in at his County Antrim home.

Burglars broke into the house on the Carniny Road, Ballymena, at about 01:30 BST on Thursday, stole the occupant's car and drove it to Broughshane.

They then returned to the house where they were disturbed by a man who lives there at about 03:00 BST.

The owner was then hit with the metal object.

Two men, aged 20 and 25, have been arrested and are being questioned about the incident.

Police have appealed for anyone anyone who has seen the black Audi A3 car DRZ 2707 to contact them at CID in Ballymena on 0845 600 8000.
