Eight arrests after two men stabbed in Cookstown

Eight men, aged between 17 and 30, have been arrested by police investigating two stabbings in Cookstown, which they believe are connected.

At 02:30 BST on Saturday, a 20-year-old man received a stab wound to his head.

An hour later, a man aged in his 20s suffered multiple stab wounds to his body.

The men are being questioned about a number of offences, including attempted murder, aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both injured men were taken to hospital. One of them has since been released.

Police have appealed for information.
