Fire crew stoned by youths in Kilkeel

Fire appliance

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has said one of its crews was attacked by young people throwing stones in Kilkeel on Thursday evening.

A side window was broken in an appliance, but no one was injured.

The crew had been called to deal with a fire involving a rubbish bin on the Scrogg Road.

The service said it had received 166 calls and attended 124 incidents on Halloween, the lowest figure on record for 31 October.

Calls were down by 7% on Halloween last year.
