Customers overpower would-be robber at Drogheda pub

Irish police are questioning a man after customers overpowered an armed raider during a pub robbery in County Louth.

Two men carrying a knife and a shotgun went into the Marsh House at Marsh Street, Drogheda, at about 20:15 GMT on Saturday and confronted staff.

GardaĆ­ said customers intervened and held one of the men at the scene, but the other escaped.

A small amount of money was taken, but was later recovered.

Two people were taken to hospital after the robbery. Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

The man arrested at the scene is being questioned at Drogheda Garda Station.
