Crossmaglen residents urged by police to be vigilant

Police have warned people in a County Armagh town not to go near suspicious objects.

The warning comes after detectives received a report that something may have been left in Crossmaglen.

Nothing has been found, so far, during searches.

Police said anyone who comes across something suspicious should contact them. Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kennedy said the issue was matter of great concern.

Mr Kennedy said: "The vast majority of the people in south Armagh want to live in peace, free from the threat of terrorism.

"Those who are trying to kill innocent people with a bomb attack in Belfast and heighten tensions with bomb alerts in other areas offer nothing, but a corrupt ideology.

"They might copy the tactics of the Provisional IRA, but like them, they will still not achieve a united Ireland."
