Two Chinese brothers have been remanded into custody on drugs charges.

Ting Gua, 28, and 39-year-old Wei Hua, of no fixed address, appeared separately at Belfast Magistrates' Court along with an interpreter.

Ting Gua is accused of having herbal cannabis and with intent to supply, along with two further charges of transferring and possessing criminal property.

His brother only faces the cannabis charges.

No bail application was lodged, and the judge remanded the pair into custody to appear again via video link on 23 December.

No facts about the offences were given to the court, but the police say they arrested five men and a youth during searches in south Belfast and Dromore, County Down, on Friday, uncovering approximately 350 suspected cannabis plants.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with cultivating cannabis and possessing criminal property following the search in Dromore.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday.
