Ex-community worker facing trial over drugs offences

A former east Belfast community worker has appeared in court charged with drugs offences.

David James McConnell, 35, of Victoria Road was charged with having herbal cannabis and intending to supply it on July 17 last year.

He was also charged with producing herbal cannabis on the same date.

McConnell, a former community worker in the Sydenham area, replied "not guilty" when the charges were put to him.

Belfast Crown Court heard a trial is listed for next February and McConnell was released on continuing bail.
