Londonderry: Man, 24, faces hijacking and assault charges

A 24-year-old man has been charged with hijacking a car in Londonderry.

He also faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm and motoring offences.

On Monday 23 December, police said two men approached a car at Bond's Hill, Derry, at about 20:30 GMT.

The driver, who is in his 70s, was attacked. He was treated in hospital for his injuries. Two men were arrested in connection with the hijacking.

A 21-year-old man has since been released pending further inquiries.
