Fire engine skids off road in ice near Coleraine

Six firefighters have escaped injury after the appliance they were in skidded off the road into a field near Coleraine.

It happened on the Curragh Road shortly after 06:00 GMT on Saturday. The fire and rescue service said the accident was caused by black ice.

Meanwhile, the Roads Service has warned of a risk of ice and frost on roads on Saturday night.

It is planning to salt roads considered to be at risk.
