Pair held over Lisburn gun incident released on bail

Two men arrested after a gun was allegedly pointed at two people in Lisburn have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The incident happened at Drumbeg Mews in the city at about 02:20 GMT on New Year's Day.

It was reported that a man was punched by another man, then took out the weapon and pointed it at his attacker and a woman. He then drove off.

Two men aged 20 and 21 were arrested two hours later in east Belfast.

The pair, who were arrested in the Tullycarnet estate, were questioned on suspicion of having a gun.

A police spokeswoman said a suspected firearm was recovered.
