Irish police launch murder inquiry after body discovered

A 31-year-old man is being questioned by Irish police in connection with the death of a 30-year-old woman in a hotel in Dublin.

The body of Sonia Blount was discovered by cleaning staff in a room at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght on Sunday.

Gardaí are treating the case as murder. Ms Blount, who is from Tallaght, checked into the hotel alone on Saturday evening.

The man, who is from Clondalkin, handed himself over to police in Dublin.

He was arrested and taken to Tallaght police station for questioning.

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out on the woman's body on Monday.
