Burglars shoot man with stun gun in north Belfast

A man has been shot with a stun gun during a burglary in north Belfast on Sunday night.

He was in a house on the North Circular Road with his father when three burglars broke in just before 23:00 GMT.

They were armed with a long-barrelled gun, an axe and the stun gun.

Both men were tied up during the robbery and the son was shot with the stun gun and beaten with the butt of the gun.

The robbers fled with cash and jewellery in the family's black BMW car.

The car was last seen being driven on the Springfield Road towards the Monagh by-pass in west Belfast.

The occupants of the house were not seriously injured during, but were left very badly shaken.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
