Russian sailor on Belfast harbour drunkenness charge

A Russian sailor has appeared in court charged with being drunk while in charge of a ship.

Mikhail Isruglotov, 53, of Arkhangelsk in northern Russia, is the chief engineer of a cargo ship that was carrying coal.

He was arrested at Belfast Harbour on Friday.

A police constable told Belfast Magistrates Court they were not objecting to bail, as the ship would remain at the harbour for some time.

Granting bail, the judge ordered Mr Isruglotov to report to police every day.
