A 42-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a man in a north Belfast park and a gun attack on a police patrol.

Kevin Kearney's body was found in a lake at Alexandra Park a day after he had been shot while walking his dogs on 8 October 2013.

Two police vehicles were hit by shots from an automatic rifle on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast on 5 December.

The man was arrested in Newtownabbey on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Kearney was a 46-year-old father of four.

While there have been several arrests, no-one has been charged over his murder.

Both attacks were blamed on dissident republicans.
