NI man who drowned in Malta was Peter Cassidy

The Belfast man who drowned while on holiday in Malta on Thursday was Peter Cassidy.

Mr Cassidy was 65 and a father of three. He was from Ava Crescent in the south of the city.

He got into difficulty while swimming in the Golden Bay area in the north west of the island.

He was pulled from the water and airlifted to hospital by an army helicopter, but was pronounced dead when he got there.
