Man charged with attempted murder after east Belfast stabbing

A 49-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon following the stabbing of a man in east Belfast on Tuesday.

The 66-year-old was stabbed in the head and neck in Wolsey's Tackle Shop on the Upper Newtownards Road.

The victim was critically injured, but is now in a stable condition in hospital.

The man will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday.
