Man charged with attempted murder in Downpatrick

An 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following the attack of a man in Downpatrick, County Down.

A 45-year-old man is in a stable condition in hospital after he was attacked by three men at about 01:20 BST on Wednesday in Carraig View.

Another man, aged 42, remains in police custody. A 20-year-old man has been released unconditionally.

The victim's injures are not believed to be life-threatening.

The 18-year-old, who is also charged with common assault, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon, is due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
