Masked men rob shop in Beersbridge Road in east Belfast

A woman was threatened with what is believed to have been a gun during a robbery in east Belfast on Friday night.

Just before 21:00 BST, two masked men went into a shop on the Beersbridge Road, held up the shop assistant, then escaped with cash and cigarettes.

The woman was left shaken but was not harmed.

The robbers are believed to have fled towards Hyndford Street on foot before possibly then escaping on bicycles.

One of the men was described as being 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build, wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with bright blue gloves, grey trousers with stripes on the side and black trainers.

The other was described as about 5ft 9ins tall, slimmer than the first, wearing a dark hooded top, black peaked cap, grey jeans and black trainers - possibly converse. He was carrying a grey rucksack.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
