Rose Week at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park in pictures

Rose Week has been taking place at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park in south Belfast, with thousands of visitors turning out to see the park's award-winning gardens.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the City of Belfast International Rose Garden, which was established by Belfast City Council in partnership with the Rose Society of Northern Ireland.

Judges from New Zealand, the United States and Norway have been attending the annual horticultural event to deliver their verdicts on this year's competing entries for the City of Belfast International Rose Trials.

The international judges awarded points for flowering, fragrance, foliage, disease resistance and length of flowering period.

Aside from the intense competition, people have also been enjoying live music and entertainment along with floral art demonstrations and summer flower exhibitions.

Northern Ireland has been a centre of rose breeding since the late 19th Century, according to the Rose Society of Northern Ireland. This year's event has been running from 21 to 27 July.
