UPRG: Car of loyalist John Howcroft's partner is targeted in arson attack

A car belonging to the partner of former loyalist prisoner, John Howcroft, has been damaged in a suspected arson attack.

The car was in the driveway of a house at Alliance Road in north Belfast.

Mr Howcroft from the Ulster Political Research Group, which has links with the Ulster Defence Association (UDA), was in the house at the time .

The front door of the house was also damaged in the fire, which happened shortly before 03:15 BST on Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene to put out the blaze.

Police believe the door of the house caught fire because of flames coming from the car.

No one was injured.
