Dungannon: Masked men target police officers

Ten masked men attacked two police officers in their car in County Tyrone on Tuesday night, police have said.

The PSNI said the officers had a lucky escape after their car was targeted in Dungannon.

The officers were responding to a call for help that later turned out to be a hoax. They drove to Moygashel Court shortly before 23:00 BST.

When they arrived, the gang threw bricks and paint at the car.

They drove off.

PSNI Insp Keith Jamieson said: "The officers were extremely fortunate to have escaped without serious injury or worse.

"The masonry thrown could easily have caused serious injury to the officers or members of the public.

"I find it frustrating and disappointing that police were targeted in this way and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about the incident to contact police."
