Carryduff fire: Woman arrested on suspicion of manslaughter
A 57-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a suspected arson attack in Carryduff, on the outskirts of Belfast.
Samuel Carson, 91, died after a blaze in the garage of a house at Thorndale Park, off the Hillsborough Road, caused his home to go up in flames.
Police are now treating the fire as suspected arson.
The woman was detained at a police station in North Down and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Det Ch Insp Justyn Galloway said the arrest was made after new information came to light.
"Detectives investigating the circumstances of the fire have come into possession of new information which has led to the arrest of a 57 year old woman on suspicion of manslaughter."
On Tuesday, firefighters responded to a call of an oil tank on fire at the neighbour's house at about 01:00 BST.
Mr Carson was removed from his home but he died at the scene.
The blaze that had damaged the bungalow, the garage and the oil tanks took about four hours to bring under control.
