90-year-old robbed by bogus caller in Rathcoole, Newtownabbey

A 90-year-old man has been robbed by a bogus caller in Newtownabbey's Rathcoole estate.

At about 10:00 BST on Saturday a man claiming to be from the Housing Executive called at the man's home at Barna Square.

He was let into the flat after claiming he was there to check the water.

It is believed the man, who was carrying a clipboard and had a pass with his photo on it, stole cash while he was in the flat.

He was described as being in his mid 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short fair hair.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
