Man stabbed and struck with hammer in north Belfast

A man has been stabbed in the back and struck on the head with a hammer in north Belfast.

The 26-year-old was confronted by three masked men at Victoria Parade at about 23:50 BST on Saturday.

Insp Roy Burnside said they attacked him "after asking for another man by name".

He was treated in hospital for injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. Police appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
