Two men have appeared in court on drugs charges days after police seized cannabis with an estimated street value of £158,000 in Belfast.

Officers raided a house in Eia Street in the north of the city on Wednesday and found more than 300 cannabis plants, along with cultivation equipment.

Dong Huang, of Eia Street, and Ping Ke He, of no fixed address, were charged with having Class B drugs with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.

Both men were remanded in custody.

Mr He, who is 45, is further accused of dishonestly using electricity without authority.

Neither he nor 23-year-old Mr Huang applied for bail.

The judge at Belfast Magistrates' Court remanded them both in custody, to appear again by video-link on 28 November.
