North Belfast: Woman arrested over attempted murder

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested by police investigating the attempted murder of a man in north Belfast.

The man, who is 25, was assaulted by a gang in the Limestone Road area, close to Mileriver Street, on Friday night.

Police said "three or four" men may have been involved in the assault.

They said the attack was not believed to be sectarian.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with an assault on a man in south Belfast on Saturday has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

The victim, who is also 19, was treated in hospital for facial injuries following the attack at University Square.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
