Three homes, including one belonging to a pensioner, have been damaged in attacks in east Belfast.

Windows were broken at the properties on the Albertbridge Road at 21:40 GMT on Monday. No-one was injured.

The home of an elderly woman, who had just been discharged from hospital, was one of those targeted.

A police vehicle was also damaged in nearby Lord Street. Last week, there were several nights of disturbances in the Short Strand area.

Sinn Féin councillor Niall Ó Donnghaile tweeted that residents were at "breaking point".

Commenting on the attacks on Monday evening, Ch Insp David Moore appealed for anyone with information to contact police.

"I also appeal to parents to ensure that they know the whereabouts of their children as anyone that is caught engaging in disorder or criminal damage is likely to end up with a criminal record," he said.
