Presenters Barra Best and Jo Scott have teamed up with Pudsey Bear for this year's BBC Children in Need from Belfast on Friday night.

Sir Terry Wogan and Tess Daly are presenting the main Children in Need programme on BBC One, hosting an array of stars from 19:30 GMT.

The live extravaganza has had regular updates from around the UK.

Barra and Jo are introducing the action from Northern Ireland from a live event in Blackstaff studios.

The duo have been giving local viewers a taste of the ingenious and inventive ways Northern Ireland people have been fundraising and also look at some of the many groups that have been supported by BBC Children in Need.

One of the highlights of the night was when 150 children from Northern Ireland joined more than 2,000 others from across the UK to form a choir taking part in a nationwide live performance of 'I'll Stand By You'.

Northern Ireland viewers have also been hearing stories from children and young people who have been supported by the Children in Need charity.

Break records

Barra Best said: "I am absolutely delighted to be part of this year's Children in Need appeal as it's a charity dear to my heart.

"I organise a Children in Need quiz every year with the help of some BBC colleagues and it's always great to see so many people donating so much money.

"I know some of the projects and schemes that benefit from Children in Need and I am in no doubt that many would struggle without this vital funding. Here's hoping we break records this year"

Jo Scott said one of the best things about Children in Need was the way people embrace it with enthusiasm and a sense of fun.

"It's a total privilege to be presenting BBC Northern Ireland's contribution," she said.

"I'm in awe of everyone who supports such life changing work and only too delighted to be involved."
