Driver attacked in west Belfast taxi hijacking

A taxi driver has been attacked in a hijacking in west Belfast.

It happened on the Falls Road shortly before 05:45 GMT. The driver had given a lift to three men.

The passenger in the front seat forced him to stop and hit him. He was then forced out of his car by two of the other men who drove off in it.

A third man made off on foot. The car was later recovered in Durham Street. The taxi driver was not injured but was left badly shaken.

Police have appealed for information.
