Dungiven: Sinn Féin's Sean McGlinchey released unconditionally

A Sinn Féin councillor arrested by police investigating paramilitary activity in County Londonderry has been released unconditionally.

Sean McGlinchey, 59, was detained in Dungiven on Tuesday.

He was the seventh person to be arrested in the investigation over the past five days.

Mr McGlinchey is the former mayor of Limavady Borough Council. He had been taken to Antrim police station for questioning.

'Disappointed'

To date, seven men have been questioned by detectives and six of them have been released unconditionally.

One of the men, who is 53, was released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Services.
