Man escapes injury in arson attack at house in Antrim

A man has escaped injury in an arson attack in Antrim.

Police received a call at 03:00 GMT on Saturday to say a gas pipe had been broken and set on fire at a house in Tiger Court in the Towns Park area of the town.

Det Insp Deborah Eakin described it as a "reckless act" and said it could have turned out very differently.

Police have said they are treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life.

"All lines of enquiry are being followed at this time and I would appeal to anyone who has information, witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact detectives at Antrim CID on the non-emergency number 101," Det Insp Eakin added.
