Newtownbreda and Bellaghy bomb alerts declared 'elaborate hoaxes'

Two separate bomb alerts in Belfast and County Londonderry have been declared "elaborate" hoaxes by police.

An alert in Newtownbreda, south Belfast, began following the discovery of a suspicious object on Thursday.

Police evacuated the Tesco store at Newtownbreda and bomb disposal officers were called to the scene, but found that the object was a hoax.

Meanwhile, a suspicious object found on Ballynease Road, Bellaghy, was also examined and found to be a hoax.
