NI roads: motorists warned of icy conditions

Motorists have been warned of difficult driving conditions in Northern Ireland over the next 24 hours due to icy roads, mist and freezing fog.

Transport NI said sub-zero temperatures have been forecast from midday on Sunday to midday on Monday.

Its spokesman said road surface temperatures could reach -7C.

Transport NI staff began spreading salt on roads considered to be at risk on Sunday afternoon and they plan to carry out further salting on Monday morning.

"Road users should exercise caution when travelling on all roads, particularly on untreated roads," the spokesman added.
