Man dies after farm accident in Mallow, County Cork

A 40-year-old man has died following a farm accident in Mallow in County Cork.

He was found on a farm at Ballyhillogue, Mourneabbey, at about 19:20 local time on Wednesday.

It is understood he suffered fatal injuries when he came into contact with farm machinery.

Ireland's national state broadcaster, RTE, reported that he was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital.

Police and the Health and Safety Authority are carrying out investigations into the death.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Friday.
