Dunmurry: Teenager charged over taxi hijacking bid

An 18-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences following an attempted hijacking in Dunmurry, County Antrim, on Sunday morning.

Two teenagers, one armed with a machete, tried to force a taxi driver out of his car in the Cutts area.

Police said the taxi driver had picked up two passengers in Divis Street, west Belfast, at 04:45 GMT.

The 18-year-old is to appear in court in February. A 16-year-old boy was released on bail.

Both were arrested a short distance away from the scene of the attempted hijacking.
