Cromac Street, Belfast: Women threatened at knifepoint during robbery bid

Two women have been threatened by a man with a large knife during an attempted armed robbery in Belfast.

Police said the women were walking along Cromac Street shortly before 23:00 GMT on Friday, when they were approached by a man.

He demanded the women hand over their bags and phones.

When they refused, the man produced a large knife and threatened them. Police said the women were not injured, but were "left badly shaken".

They ran off and the suspect fled empty-handed in the direction of the Markets area.
