North Belfast crash: Elderly man is critically ill

An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was injured in a crash in north Belfast.

He was the driver of a car that crashed on the Antrim Road at about 09:50 GMT on Sunday. No other vehicle was involved.

The road was closed between Serpentine Road and Ben Madigan Park South for several hours, but has now reopened.

Insp Roy Burnside appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to call the non-emergency number 101.
