PSNI block organised fight in north Belfast

Police said they stopped efforts to stage an organised fight in north Belfast on Friday evening.

About 40 young men and women gathered at Alexandra Park and Jellicoe Avenue.

The PSNI said that the names of those present were taken and alcohol was confiscated.

Last May, up to 40 young people gathered in north Belfast hoping to watch a fight between two boys that was arranged on social media, police said.

However, no criminal activity was detected.
