Belmont Church Road, Belfast, shop is robbed at gunpoint

Two men, one carrying a gun, have robbed a shop in east Belfast.

It happened on the Belmont Church Road at about 07:00 GMT on Saturday.

They entered the shop and threatened two members of staff. Money and cigarettes were handed over to the men in two recycling boxes and a bag.

The staff members were not injured but were left shaken. Police are investigating a link to another incident on the Holywood Road 20 minutes earlier.

Police received a report that two men in a red BMW 5 series were acting suspiciously in the vicinity of a newsagent shop

One of the man involved in the shop robbery was wearing a grey and black jacket with a horizontal white stripe, a red and white balaclava, blue jeans, trainers and black gloves.

The second wore a black jacket with the hood up, a baseball cap, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers with a scarf covering his face.
