Teenage girl in serious condition after being hit by car in east Belfast

A teenage girl is in a serious condition in hospital after she was hit by a car in east Belfast.

It happened on the Upper Newtownards Road between its junctions with the Sandown Road and Knock Road on Tuesday morning.

The road was closed for a time but has since reopened.

Police said a man in his 30s who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
