A court in Australia has heard that a County Antrim man charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on his brother wants their family to be allowed to return home.

Barry Lyttle, 33, from Ballycastle, is accused of punching his 31-year-old brother Patrick in Sydney in January.

Patrick spent almost a week on life-support after he fell and hit his head. He left hospital last month.

A defence lawyer said the family was feeling the financial strain.

Patrick Lyttle had been travelling around Australia for some months before his brother and father came to visit him.

Their father has remained in Sydney with his sons since the incident.

The court was told that police had received a medical report on Patrick Lyttle's condition.

The case was adjourned for three weeks.
