Belfast City Council: SDLP proposes tax scrutiny motion

SDLP councillor Claire Hanna has proposed that Belfast City Council check the tax affairs of multinational firms with whom the council does business over the value of £172,000.

Ms Hanna said her motion was focused on "the impact of tax dodging on developing countries".

She said the practice would be in line with UK government policy.

Ms Hanna said the motion would be discussed at the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee later this month.
