Ballywalter: Man charged over paramilitary-style attack

A 33-year-old man has been charged over a paramilitary-style attack in County Down in which a man was hurt by a gang with baseball bats and screwdrivers.

The victim, in his 20s, tried to escape when the gang entered a property in Bartley's Wood, Ballywalter, on Monday.

They attacked him in an alleyway and he was treated for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

The 33-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault and aggravated burglary.

He is due to appear at Newtownards Magistrates' Court, County Down, later on Wednesday.

Two women in their 20s were in the property at the time of the attack and one of them sustained minor injuries.
