Garda arrest five men in Dublin Romanian Crime gangs probe

Five men have been arrested by Irish police investigating Romanian organised crime groups.

Searches were carried out in Balbriggan, Donabate and Blanchardstown on the outskirts of Dublin, as well as the north inner city.

It is part of an investigation into burglaries of jewellery shops throughout the Republic, during which staff members were assaulted.

The men who were arrested are all in their mid 30s.

The operation involved the newly formed Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by detectives from Meath, Kildare and north Dublin, and the Garda Emergency Response Unit.
