North Belfast trouble: Two teenagers arrested after attack on police

Two teenagers have been arrested in north Belfast after police were attacked as they attempted to stop a pre-arranged fight between rival groups.

Police said two groups of 30 youths had gathered in the area of Somerdale Park and Ingledale Park on Thursday.

Officers came under attack from youths throwing masonry from a garden wall that had been pulled down.

Two young men aged 16 and 18 were arrested.

The 16-year-old has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries, while the 18-year-old remains in custody.

The incident is being treated as sectarian.
