Carryduff: Man charged after taxi assault on 19-year-old woman

A man has been charged by police investigating the assault of a 19-year-old woman in County Down last year.

It happened after she got into a taxi at Lower Crescent, south Belfast, at about 01.30 BST on 16 September 2014.

She was attacked and left abandoned on Carr Road, Carryduff. The assault was reported to police at about 03.40 BST.

A PSNI spokesman said a 33-year-old man has been charged with "committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and criminal damage".

He was arrested in Ballymoney, County Antrim, on Tuesday.

The man is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates' Court on 22 May.
