A man has been arrested after police found cannabis plants and herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £225,000 in County Down.

The discovery was made during a search of a house on Kilkeel Road, Annalong, on Tuesday.

The man, aged in his 60s, remains in custody.

Det Insp Keith Gawley said officers had "taken a substantial amount of drugs out of circulation and reduced the harm they cause to communities".

"This is a key example of how the PSNI is keeping people safe while policing in the community," he added.
