Newtownabbey: Mallusk sorting office suspicious white powder declared harmless.

An alert a County Antrim postal sorting office has been called off after white powder leaking from a package was declared harmless.

The fire service had evacuated part of the building at the main Royal Mail sorting office at Mallusk

Police said the alarm was raised at about 11:30 BST on Monday, and one fire appliance attended the scene.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said there was "no impact on our collection and sorting operations".

They said "the safety of our people is of the utmost priority and in line with our policy and procedures the police and fire brigade attended".
