Veronica Guerin murder: Brian Meehan loses appeal over conviction
A man convicted of murdering crime journalist Veronica Guerin has had his application to have the ruling declared a miscarriage of justice rejected.
Brian Meehan, 47, from Crumlin in Dublin, was convicted of murdering Veronica Guerin in 1999.
Ms Guerin was shot dead while driving her car on the Naas Road in June 1996 by a passenger on a motorbike.
RTÉ reports that the Court of Appeal ruled that Meehan's application amounted to an abuse of process.
Mr Justice George Bingham said no new facts had been uncovered in the case since his failed appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeal in 2003.
