Belfast City Council has approved planning permission for the city's single biggest student housing scheme.

The 740-bed development on College Avenue will be developed by McAleer and Rushe on behalf of Queens University, Belfast (QUB).

A series of major student schemes, mainly close to the Ulster University's Belfast campus, have been given planning consent in recent months.

McAleer and Rushe is based in Cookstown, County Tyrone.

It is one of Northern Ireland's biggest property firms.
